Salbutamol Nebules 2.5mg

Salbutamol Nebules 2.5mg/2.5mL are pre-measured liquid doses of salbutamol (also known as albuterol) used for inhalation via a nebulizer. They help relieve and prevent bronchospasm in conditions like asthma, COPD, and other respiratory disorders.

Uses:

• Treatment of asthma attacks and wheezing

• Management of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)

• Relief from shortness of breath, chest tightness, and bronchospasm

How It Works:

• Salbutamol is a short-acting beta-2 agonist (SABA)

• It relaxes the airway muscles, opens the airways, and makes breathing easier

• Onset of action: within 5 minutes; duration: 4–6 hours

Dosage (Nebulized):

• Adults and children over 12: 2.5mg to 5mg via nebulizer every 4–6 hours as needed

• Children 2–12 years: 2.5mg every 4–6 hours as needed

• Can be repeated depending on severity, under medical supervision

• Administer using a nebulizer mask or mouthpiece with compressed air or oxygen

Side Effects:

• Common: Tremor, fast heartbeat (palpitations), headache, nervousness

• Less common: Muscle cramps, dry mouth, low potassium (hypokalemia)

• Rare: Chest pain, allergic reactions, paradoxical bronchospasm (worsening)

Precautions:

• Use with caution in patients with heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, or hyperthyroidism

• Do not exceed recommended dose

• Regular overuse may indicate worsening asthma—medical review is needed

Storage & Handling:

• Store below 25°C, away from light

• Use immediately after opening the nebule

• Do not inject or swallow—for inhalation use only
