Salbutamol Tablet 4mg

Salbutamol is a short-acting beta-2 adrenergic agonist used as a bronchodilator to treat asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema, and other conditions that cause breathing difficulty.

Indications / Uses:

• Relief and prevention of bronchospasm in:

  • Bronchial asthma

  • Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)

  • Emphysema

  • Exercise-induced bronchospasm

• Sometimes used for hyperkalemia (high potassium) under supervision

Dosage:

• Adults & children over 12 years:
  2–4 mg three or four times daily

• Children 6–12 years:
  2 mg three or four times daily

• Children 2–6 years (if prescribed):
  1 mg three or four times daily

Always follow your doctor’s instructions. Start with the lowest effective dose and increase if necessary.

How It Works:

• Stimulates beta-2 receptors in the lungs

• Relaxes smooth muscle in the airways

• Improves airflow and relieves wheezing, chest tightness, and breathlessness

Common Side Effects:

• Tremors (especially hands)

• Palpitations or fast heartbeat

• Headache

• Nervousness or restlessness

• Muscle cramps

• Nausea

Serious (Rare) Side Effects:

• Chest pain

• Irregular heartbeat

• Allergic reaction (rash, swelling, breathing difficulty)

• Hypokalemia (low potassium) with prolonged high doses

Precautions & Warnings:

• Use cautiously in patients with:

  • Heart disease or arrhythmias

  • Hypertension (high blood pressure)

  • Diabetes

  • Hyperthyroidism

  • Seizure disorders

• Not a substitute for long-term asthma control medications

• Avoid overdose—may cause life-threatening side effects

• Store below 30°C

• Protect from moisture and light

• Keep out of reach of children
