Appearance:
Acidom capsules typically have a two-tone hard gelatin shell, often in shades like pink and white or red and white. Inside, they contain small enteric-coated pellets or granules. These protect the active ingredient (omeprazole) from stomach acid so it can be absorbed in the intestine.

Indications (Uses):

Acidom is used to treat and manage various gastrointestinal conditions, including:

• Peptic Ulcers (gastric and duodenal)

• Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)

• Erosive Esophagitis

• Helicobacter pylori Eradication (as part of triple therapy)

• Acid-related dyspepsia

Mechanism of Action:

Omeprazole, the active ingredient in Acidom, inhibits the H⁺/K⁺ ATPase enzyme system (the “proton pump”) in the gastric parietal cells. This leads to a profound and long-lasting reduction in stomach acid production.

Dosage and Administration:

• Typically taken once daily, preferably in the morning before meals.

• In some conditions, a higher or twice-daily dose may be recommended.

• Capsules should be swallowed whole, not crushed or chewed, to preserve the enteric coating.
