Amoksiklav injection 600mg

Amoksiklav 600 mg injection is a sterile powder vial containing 500 mg of amoxicillin and 100 mg of clavulanic acid. It is intended for intravenous use after reconstitution. This combination acts as a beta-lactam and beta-lactamase inhibitor, designed to overcome resistant bacterial strains.

Indications:
Used to treat moderate to severe bacterial infections such as:

• Respiratory tract infections (pneumonia, bronchitis, sinusitis)

• Urinary tract infections

• Skin and soft tissue infections

• Bone and joint infections

• Surgical prophylaxis

Dosage and Administration:

• Administered by slow intravenous injection over 3 to 4 minutes or intermittent infusion over 30 to 40 minutes after dissolving in sterile fluids such as sodium chloride.

• Typical adult dosage is one 600 mg vial every 8 hours.

• Higher doses (e.g., 1.2 g every 8 hours) may be used for severe infections.

• Dosage adjustments are necessary for patients with renal or liver impairment.

Contraindications and Precautions:

• Not to be used in patients with known allergy to penicillins or beta-lactams.

• Avoid in patients with history of severe liver injury linked to amoxicillin-clavulanate.

• Use caution in patients with renal or hepatic dysfunction; monitor organ function during prolonged therapy.

Side Effects:
Common side effects include:

• Injection site reactions

• Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea

• Rash and itching (pruritus)

Rare but serious side effects may include:

• Antibiotic-associated colitis

• Elevated liver enzymes

• Severe allergic reactions

• Blood disorders

Storage and Reconstitution:

• Store below 25 degrees Celsius.

• Reconstitute immediately before use with sterile water or saline.

• Administer within one hour of reconstitution.

• Discard any unused solution.
