What Is Beechams?

Beechams is a popular over-the-counter medicine used to relieve cold and flu symptoms. It contains:

• Paracetamol – reduces pain and fever

• Phenylephrine – relieves blocked nose and sinus pressure

• Guaifenesin – loosens mucus and chest congestion

• Some types (like Flu Plus) also contain caffeine to reduce tiredness

Uses

Beechams helps with symptoms such as:

• Headache and body aches

• Fever and chills

• Blocked or runny nose

• Sore throat

• Chesty cough

• Fatigue due to cold or flu

Dosage (Adults and Children Over 12)

• Take 2 tablets every 4 to 6 hours

• Do not take more than 8 tablets in 24 hours

• Do not use for more than 5 to 7 days without medical advice

Side Effects

• Common: nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, restlessness, difficulty sleeping

• Rare but serious: liver damage (from too much paracetamol), allergic reactions (rash, swelling), fast heartbeat, high blood pressure

Warnings

• Do not take with other products containing paracetamol

• Avoid alcohol while using it

• Talk to a doctor before use if you have liver disease, heart problems, high blood pressure, diabetes, glaucoma, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding

• Not suitable for children under 12
