PRODUCT NAME: Benylin Original Cough Mixture
VOLUME: Commonly available in 150 mL or 300 mL bottles
SUITABLE FOR: Adults and children aged 12 years and over
TYPE: Cough suppressant and decongestant for deep, dry, hacking coughs

ACTIVE INGREDIENTS (per 5 mL):

• Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride 14 mg – an antihistamine that helps suppress the cough reflex and dry up nasal secretions

• Levomenthol 0.1 mg – provides a soothing and cooling effect on the throat

USES (INDICATIONS):

• For relief of dry, tickly, and irritating coughs

• Also helps with nasal congestion and throat discomfort

HOW IT WORKS:
Diphenhydramine suppresses coughing by calming the cough center in the brain and drying secretions. Levomenthol soothes the throat and opens nasal passages for easier breathing.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:

• Adults and children over 12 years: 10 mL every 4 to 6 hours

• Maximum daily dose: 60 mL in 24 hours

• Not suitable for children under 12 years

• Shake bottle well before use and use a proper measuring device

SIDE EFFECTS:

• May cause drowsiness, dry mouth, or dizziness

• Less common: nausea, rash, or difficulty sleeping

PRECAUTIONS:

• Do not drive or operate machinery if drowsy

• Avoid alcohol and other sedatives while taking this medicine

• Do not use with other diphenhydramine-containing products

• Seek medical advice if symptoms persist more than 5 days

STORAGE:

• Store below 30 degrees Celsius

• Keep bottle tightly closed and out of reach of children

• Discard 4 months after opening or if expired
