What It Is

Buscopan Tablet contains hyoscine butylbromide, an antispasmodic medicine used to relieve stomach cramps, intestinal spasms, and bladder discomfort. It works by relaxing the smooth muscles of the gastrointestinal and urinary tract.

⚙️ How It Works

Hyoscine butylbromide blocks muscarinic receptors in the gut wall, which helps reduce painful spasms and cramping. It does not affect pain from inflammation but is effective for functional abdominal discomfort, such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

Common Uses

• Abdominal pain due to IBS or colic

• Menstrual cramps

• Bladder spasms

• Spasmodic pain related to digestion or urinary tract

Dosage & Administration

• Adults & children over 12: 1–2 tablets, 3 to 5 times daily

• Do not exceed 6 tablets in 24 hours

• Tablets are usually taken before meals or when pain begins

⚠️ Warnings & Precautions

• Not recommended for people with glaucoma, enlarged prostate, or myasthenia gravis

• Should be used with caution in people with heart disease or high blood pressure

• Avoid in children under 6 years without medical advice

• Can cause dry mouth, dizziness, blurred vision, or constipation
