Clomid Tablet 50mg

Clomid contains the active ingredient clomiphene citrate, a selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM) used primarily to treat infertility in women. It works by stimulating the release of hormones that trigger ovulation (the release of an egg from the ovary).

Uses

• Induces ovulation in women who do not ovulate regularly, such as those with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) or unexplained infertility.

• Helps improve chances of conception by promoting follicle development and ovulation.

• Occasionally used off-label in men to treat certain hormonal imbalances affecting fertility.

Dosage and Administration

• The typical starting dose is 50 mg once daily for 5 consecutive days, usually beginning on the 2nd to 5th day of the menstrual cycle.

• If ovulation does not occur, the dose may be increased in subsequent cycles, up to a maximum of 100 mg daily.

• Treatment cycles usually last 5 days and may be repeated for up to 6 cycles, depending on response and doctor’s advice.

• Monitoring by a healthcare provider is recommended to assess ovulation and adjust dosing.

Precautions

• Not suitable for women with liver disease, uncontrolled thyroid or adrenal dysfunction, ovarian cysts (other than polycystic ovary), or abnormal uterine bleeding.

• Use cautiously in patients with visual disturbances; therapy should be discontinued if visual symptoms develop.

• Pregnancy should be avoided during treatment except when ovulation is confirmed.

• Should be used under strict medical supervision with regular monitoring.

Side Effects

• Common: Hot flashes, abdominal discomfort, nausea, breast tenderness, headache, mood swings.

• Less common: Visual disturbances (blurred vision, spots), ovarian enlargement, multiple pregnancies (twins or more).

• Rare but serious: Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS), which requires immediate medical attention.
