Koffex Junior Cough Mixture

Koffex Junior is an over-the-counter (OTC) pediatric cough syrup commonly used in Ghana to relieve symptoms associated with allergies, colds, or flu-like coughs—including runny nose, sneezing, itchy throat, and nasal congestion.

 Active Ingredients

• Diphenhydramine HCl – an antihistamine that relieves allergy symptoms and reduces dry, tickly coughs

• Ammonium Chloride – acts as an expectorant, helping to loosen mucus

• Menthol – provides a soothing, cooling sensation in the throat and nasal passages

 Primary Uses

• Relief from allergy-like symptoms, such as sneezing, runny nose, and itchy eyes

• Soothing dry or nonproductive coughs linked to mild upper respiratory issues

 Dosage Guidelines

• Usually supplied in a 125 ml bottle

• Children aged 6–12 years: typically 5 ml, 3–4 times daily

• Adolescents (12+): may take 5–10 ml, 3–4 times daily

• Maximum: 4 doses in 24 hours

• Not recommended for children under 6 years unless prescribed by a healthcare provider

• Can cause drowsiness or sedation (due to diphenhydramine)
