Active Ingredients (per 5 ml):

• Carbocisteine – 100 mg or 250 mg (depending on formulation)

• Promethazine Hydrochloride – 2.5 mg

Uses:

• Treats irritative (dry) and non-productive coughs

• Reduces coughing at night by thinning mucus and calming the cough reflex

• May be used in upper respiratory infections, bronchitis, or post-nasal drip

Dosage:

• Adults and teens (15+ years): 10–15 ml, three times daily

• Children 6–15 years: 7.5–10 ml, three times daily

• Children 2–6 years: 2.5–5 ml, three times daily

• Not recommended for children under 2 years

How It Works:

• Carbocisteine thins and breaks down mucus in the airways

• Promethazine reduces irritation in the throat and provides a sedative effect, helping reduce nighttime coughing

Common Side Effects:

• Drowsiness, dizziness, or dry mouth

• Mild nausea, stomach upset, or constipation

• Rare: rash, blurred vision, urinary retention

Precautions:

• Avoid use in:

  • Children under 2 years

  • People with glaucoma, urinary retention, or asthma

  • Those with severe liver disease, stomach ulcers, or epilepsy

• Avoid alcohol and other sedatives due to risk of enhanced drowsiness

• Use with caution in elderly and in those operating machinery or driving

Storage:

• Store below 25°C, in a dry place

• Keep out of reach of children
