Stopkof Junior Expectorant Syrup

Type: Pediatric expectorant syrup

Active Ingredient

• Carbocisteine 2% (2 g per 100 ml)
  A mucolytic agent that thins and loosens mucus in the airways, making it easier to cough up and clear from the chest

Indications / Uses

• Relief of chest congestion due to colds, flu, or bronchitis

• Thins thick mucus to help with productive (wet) coughs

• Improves breathing by clearing mucus from the lungs

• Commonly used in children with upper respiratory tract infections

Dosage and Administration

• Dosage depends on the child’s age and weight – always follow pediatric dosing instructions or a doctor’s advice

• Common guideline:

  • 6 months to 2 years: 2.5 ml, 2 to 3 times daily

  • 2 to 5 years: 5 ml, 2 to 3 times daily

  • Shake well before use

• Administer using a measuring spoon or oral syringe

Precautions

• Not for children under 6 months unless prescribed

• Should not be used for dry (non-productive) coughs

• Use cautiously in children with a history of asthma or wheezing

• If symptoms persist beyond 5 days, consult a doctor

Do Not Use If

• The child has a known allergy to carbocisteine or any syrup component

• There is active stomach or intestinal ulceration

• The child is already on another cough/cold medication without medical advice

Possible Side Effects

• Mild stomach upset or diarrhea

• Rarely: skin rash, nausea, or allergic reaction

• Usually well-tolerated when used as directed

Storage

• Store below 25°C in a dry place

• Keep out of reach of children

• Use within the expiry date and discard any unused syrup after opening for more than a month
