Pharmacological Class:

Mechanism of Action:

• Amoxicillin: A penicillin-type antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis.
• Clavulanic acid: Inhibits beta-lactamase enzymes produced by resistant bacteria, enhancing amoxicillin’s effect.

Indications:

• Respiratory tract infections (e.g. sinusitis, pneumonia, bronchitis)

Dosage (Typical Adult):

• 1 tablet every 12 hours, or as directed by a healthcare provider
• Duration: Usually 5–14 days depending on severity and type of infection

Side Effects:

• Less common: Liver enzyme elevation, fungal infections (e.g., thrush)
