PRODUCT NAME: Benylin Dry Cough Syrup
VOLUME: Usually available in 150 mL or 300 mL bottles
SUITABLE FOR: Adults and children aged 12 years and above
TYPE: Non-drowsy cough suppressant for dry, irritating coughs

ACTIVE INGREDIENT (per 5 mL):

• Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide 7.5 mg – a cough suppressant that reduces the urge to cough by acting on the cough center in the brain

USES (INDICATIONS):

• Relief of dry, tickly, and non-productive coughs

• Reduces frequent coughing caused by throat irritation or colds

HOW IT WORKS:
Dextromethorphan blocks signals in the brain that trigger the cough reflex, helping reduce coughing without making you drowsy.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:

• Adults and children over 12 years: 10 mL up to 4 times daily

• Maximum dose: 40 mL in 24 hours

• Not recommended for children under 12 years

• Shake well before use and measure with a proper spoon or cup

SIDE EFFECTS:

• Mild drowsiness or dizziness (uncommon)

• Gastrointestinal discomfort or nausea

• Rare allergic reactions such as rash or itching

PRECAUTIONS:

• Do not exceed the recommended dose

• Avoid use with other medicines containing dextromethorphan

• Consult a doctor if symptoms persist beyond 5 days or worsen

• Not to be used if taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs)

• Avoid alcohol during treatment

STORAGE:

• Store below 30 degrees Celsius

• Keep tightly closed and out of reach of children

• Discard after the expiry date or 4 months after opening
