Salbutamol Nebules 5mg

Salbutamol nebules (5mg/2.5mL or 5mg/2mL) are liquid forms of Salbutamol, a fast-acting bronchodilator used with a nebulizer to relieve breathing difficulties.

Uses:

• Treatment of acute asthma attacks

• Relief of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) symptoms

• Used for wheezing, shortness of breath, and tight chest

• Prevents exercise-induced bronchospasm

How It Works:

Salbutamol is a β2-adrenergic receptor agonist that relaxes the muscles in the airways, opening up the lungs and allowing easier breathing. Effects start within minutes and last 4–6 hours.

Dosage & Administration:

• Adults and children over 12 years: 2.5mg to 5mg via nebulizer up to 4 times daily

• Children 4–12 years: 2.5mg via nebulizer up to 4 times daily

• Children under 4 years: Dose as prescribed by a doctor

Nebulization: Mix with normal saline if dilution is needed. Use with a jet nebulizer under medical advice.

Side Effects:

• Common: Tremor, nervousness, headache, rapid heartbeat (tachycardia), muscle cramps

• Less common: Nausea, palpitations, throat irritation

• Rare: Low potassium (hypokalemia), chest pain

Precautions:

• Use cautiously in patients with heart disease, high blood pressure, thyroid disorders, or diabetes

• Monitor potassium levels if used frequently

• Avoid overdose—excessive use may worsen breathing or lead to cardiac issues

Storage:

• Store nebules at room temperature (below 25°C)

• Use immediately after opening

• Discard unused portion of opened nebule
