The tetanus injection protects against tetanus, a life-threatening bacterial infection caused by Clostridium tetani.
It is given routinely in childhood, every 10 years as a booster, or immediately after dirty wounds if the person is not fully vaccinated.
Types include tetanus toxoid for prevention and tetanus immunoglobulin for emergency protection after exposure.

Types & When They Are Used

Tetanus Toxoid (TT) – For routine vaccination and booster doses
