Indications

• Used for the treatment of external genital warts (condylomata acuminata) in adults caused by human papillomavirus (HPV)

• Best suited for small, soft, external warts in the genital area

Mechanism of Action

• Podophyllotoxin, a plant-derived compound, acts as a mitotic inhibitor, stopping wart cells from dividing

• Leads to the destruction of wart tissue through cell death and necrosis

Dosage & Administration

• Apply twice daily (morning and evening) for 3 consecutive days, followed by 4 days without treatment

• Repeat for up to 4 cycles (4 weeks) if needed

• Apply only to the wart tissue, using the provided applicator—avoid healthy skin

• Wash hands before and after use; allow area to dry before covering

Expected Effects

• Treated warts often turn white, then darken, shrink, and flake off

• Visible reduction usually occurs within 1–4 weeks of consistent use

• Skin may become red, sore, or slightly inflamed, which is common

Side Effects & Precautions

• Common: Mild burning, stinging, redness, itching, dryness, or skin peeling

• Moderate: Erosion, ulceration, or mild bleeding in overtreated areas

• Serious (rare): Severe skin reaction, pain, swelling—stop treatment and consult a doctor

• Not for use on mucosal surfaces, internal genital warts, anal, or oral warts

Contraindications

• Pregnancy or breastfeeding

• Hypersensitivity to podophyllotoxin

• Use in children or for large wart areas

Storage

• Store below 25°C

• Flammable—keep away from flames and heat sources

• Keep bottle tightly closed and out of reach of children

Advice to Users

• Avoid sexual contact during treatment

• Do not apply to broken, bleeding, or inflamed skin

• If irritation is severe, pause treatment and seek medical advice

• Do not use for longer than 4 treatment cycles without reevaluation
